People think that if you do a request in dmoz you could be waiting for 6 months but you could be in dmoz in 2 weeks. If you look at the category or categories you want  to be and see if any of them are being edited at the time. If they are then place a request and it will be picked up straight away which very good.

Seo features in cms

By Ben, 24 January, 2010, No Comment

When looking for a content management system (cms) with seo in mind, inherently they should encompass a basic set of seo features such as the ability to edit the title, description and keyword tags for each page and even providing seo friendly urls. But how many cms’s really provide these basic features out of the box? Most free content management systems such as oscommerce, prestashop ECT use modules to add extra functionality to make the content management systems seo friendly, which is a good idea for users not requiring a fully fledged solution, sometimes at extra cost if they have been developed by third party developers. The best way to really be sure is to research the market thoroughly and not jump in and buy or acquire the first content management systems you come across.

Not in DMOZ? What do I mean by this?

Well, many Search Engine optimisers in the world consider DMOZ to be very valuable for ranking in the search engines – especially on Google.

What is DMOZ? DMOZ is the web’s largest directory that is human edited and sometimes it can takes months to get into it or sometimes you submission is not even accepted!

But if you get your site into DMOZ then it’s there to stay and is very good for SEO.

Try to submit yours and make sure you follow the rules well otherwise they will probably reject yours!

Google Image Swirl

By Ben, 17 December, 2009, No Comment

Google are quietly releasing many more features to their search such as the new Image Swirl.

it may seem like a small feature that’s not great – but we think this because of the recent massive new features such as the real time search. But if features such as the image swirl was to be release a few months ago, we would have seen the whole of the Google world go ‘Woah!’ and ‘Wow!’ and what not – this wuld also have been written about in the media.

But Google seem to be releasing these small features at the same time as the big ones so people don’t get distracted towards them. Whay? This I will answer later.

Firefox shouts out to Google Users

By Ben, 11 December, 2009, No Comment

Firefox has recently shouted out to all Google users and urged the to to move to Microsoft Bing and leave Google.

The  main reason for this was because of Google’s recent comment on user privacy where in they mentioned anything a user searches for in google will be sent to Google. It’s not limited to this only. Even in Google’s recent new browser – Google Chrome – anything a user searches within the address bar of Google Chrome will also be sent to Google.

Saying this, I think most of Firefox revenue comes from Google! Through their adsense or something.

2010 is going to be very interesting…

Socialised Search

By Dave, 9 December, 2009, No Comment

Google have very recently announced real time search to compete with the other real time players such as Twitter and Bing. Google have done a very good job of this and is well organised and laid out.

Google have spent a heck of a lot of time in doing this and have an advanced algorithm behind this.

Now in my opinion, I think it’s soon going to become a big ranking factor for the Google SERPs such as how many people have mentioned your site in Twitter, Digg’s, Delicious Bookmarks etc.

Keep you eyes open and be sharp. It could be your chance to get to the top!
